Swope was named the outstanding wrestler of the Wendy’s Mid-Atlantic Duals hosted by Ashland University last Sunday. The redshirt senior recorded 14 team points during a 3-0 individual day that led Gannon to a fifth-place team finish. After Gannon lost a close opening dual to Indianapolis, Swope helped the Golden Knights rebound with victories against East Stroudsburg and Seton Hill. The Warriors were ranked two spots ahead of Gannon in the latest regional rankings. Swope added bonus points in each of his three bouts, finishing with two major decisions and one technical fall. He was one of only three Gannon grapplers to win a bout against the Greyhounds, earning four of Gannon’s 10 points. Swope added four points during Gannon’s 26-18 win over East Stroudsburg with another major decision. Against Seton Hill, his 20-5 technical fall turned a 6-3 deficit into an 8-6 Gannon lead and started a string of six straight Gannon wins after Seton Hill recorded wins during two of the first three bouts.
