Bennett accounted for 10 of the Gannon men's soccer team's 22 points this past week as the freshman netted four goals and added two assists. Bennett accounted for all three of Gannon’s goals during the 3-1 win against Shepherd, recording the first hat trick by a men’s soccer player since Afrim Latifi achieved the feat back on October 21, 2008. During a pouring rain against Shepherd, Bennett scored the game’s first two goals one minute and 10 seconds apart, giving the Golden Knights a 2-0 lead less than nine minutes in. After the Rams cut the lead in half, Bennett secured the win and completed the hat trick with a goal in the 83rd minute. In the match, Bennett scored on three of his seven shots, putting five of them on goal. The freshman added another goal and two assists during a 4-1 win against Alderson-Broaddus. Trailing 1-0, Bennett assisted on Austin Miller’s game-tying goal. Later, his fifth goal of the season put Gannon ahead 3-1 before assisting on Gannon’s final score in the 83rd minute. Bennett has scored in three of Gannon’s four matches this season. He is currently averaging 1.25 goals per match and three points per match. Sixty percent of his shots this season have been on goal and he currently holds a .250 shot percentage.
