AT MERCYHURST: Appeared in 22 games for the Lakers from 2018-22 … had a 4-0 record and a 4.56 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 25.2 innings … allowed 21 hits and 28 walks …   did not appear in any games in 2021 and ’22, but in 2020 appeared in one game for an inning, allowing a hit and a walk with a strikeout against Fairmont State …in 2019 pitched in seven games for a total of six innings, allowing five hits and 10 walks with eight strikeouts for a 9.00 ERA … threw two innings against Alderson Broaddus (3/7/19) striking out four batters … as a freshman in 2018 appeared in 14 games with a 4-0 record and 3.37 ERA … in 18.2 innings allowed 15 hits and 17 walks with 19 strikeouts … picked up first career win vs. Barton (3/8/18) … in two innings struck out four … had a career-high five strikeouts vs. Indiana (Pa.) (3/30/18) in a career-high 2.2 innings to earn the win.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for head coach Jon Honard at Strong Vincent High School while attending Northwest Pa. Collegiate Academy … was a four-year starter and a first team All-Region utility player as a junior and a first team All-Region selection as a senior.  

PERSONAL: Physical Therapy major … son of Denise and Randy Smerkar … has one sister (Brianna).
