Kuneman begins the third year of his second stint as a member of the Gannon water polo coaching staff in 2017-18. The former University of Dayton water polo standout previously served as an assistant under longtime head coach Don Sherman for two seasons (2011-12) with the men’s program and one season (2012) with the women’s program, before rejoining the programs under current head coach Sean Morphy in 2015-16.
The Erie, Pa., native was a four-time All-Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) selection at the University of Dayton. Kuneman landed on the first team three times as a freshman, junior and senior. He earned All-CWPA second-team accolades as a sophomore. Kuneman began his playing career at McDowell (Pa.) High School where he was named to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) All-State team as a senior.
Kuneman held a dual role during the last three years of his collegiate career, serving a coach as well as a student-athlete at the University of Dayton. He continued to be the head coach in 2003 following his playing days.
Kuneman graduated from the University of Dayton with a bachelor’s degree in 2001, before earning his master’s degree from Wright State (Ohio) University in 2002. He then received his doctorate of pharmacy from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) School of Pharmacy in 2006.
