Coletta begins his first season as an assistant coach in 2018-19. He brings 13 years of coaching experience to the bench.
The North East, Pa., native served as the head coach at Northwestern (Pa.) High School from 2013-18 prior to coming to Gannon. The Wildcats went 67-60 and made four District 10 playoff appearances during Coletta's tenure. In 2015-16, he led Northwestern to a region championship and the first playoff win in 14 years. During that time, Coletta developed seven first team all-region players and had two players go on to play at the college level. He left Northwestern as the winningest coach in program history.
Coletta previously served as an assistant coach at North East (Pa.) High School from 2006-12, guiding teams to a 121-36 record. During his time as an assistant coach, the Grape Pickers won four District 10 Championships and four region championships. North East advanced to the PIAA quarterfinals in 2006-07 before setting a school record in 2007-08 with 29-2 wins and a state semifinalist appearance.
Coletta earned six varsity letters in football and basketball during his prep days at North East High School. He was selected to the all-county teams in both sports and also participated in the Erie city-county All Star games.
Coletta graduated from Mercyhurst with a bachelor's degree in elementary education, before earning his master's degree in school counseling at Edinboro. Coletta and his wife Dawn live in Erie with their two sons Michael and Anthony. He is currently the school guidance counselor at Woodrow Wilson Middle School.
