Davis begins her second season as a member of the Gannon competitive cheer program’s coaching staff in 2017.

Davis holds seven years of coaching experience at the collegiate, all-star and rec levels. Prior to Gannon, she served as a graduate assistant coach for the Cameron (Okla.) University cheer and dance teams during the 2014-15 season. Her primary responsibilities included day-to-day duties, recruitment, travel arrangements and budgeting.

“Cheerleading has always been a passion of mine,” said Davis upon her hiring. “Gannon offers a unique opportunity with its competitive cheer program to give student-athletes with the same passion a way to continue their cheerleading careers as well as get a degree that will better them for the future. I am excited to be part of the Gannon competitive cheer program’s bright future.”

Davis helped Cameron place second in the overall gameday routine and third in the cheer and fight song routines at the 2014 Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Summer Camp. Academically, she helped increase the program’s cumulative grade point average from 2.0 to 2.8 by facilitating study hall hours.

“Ashton has great experience both coaching and recruiting at the collegiate level,” said Gannon competitive cheer head coach Meghan Foran upon Davis' hire. “We’re thrilled to have her join our staff. She’s extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the sport and I know our student-athletes are going to benefit greatly from her instruction. As our program continues to grow and expand with two teams this year, Ashton will play a key role in all aspects of our program.”

Davis previously worked as the gymnastics and cheer coach for a year (2012-13) with Raider Xtreme in Lubbock, Texas and for three years (2009-12) with Studio H in Ottawa, Kansas.

The Frisco, Texas, native gained all-star experience as an athlete at the high school and open level, before becoming a standout student-athlete for the Ottawa (Kan.) University cheerleading team from 2009-12. In addition to serving as a team captain for two seasons, Davis also spent time as the campus activities board director. Additionally, she worked as marketing intern for Blue Sky Burger in Lubbock, Texas where she was responsible for web and media marketing.

Davis graduated from Texas Tech University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree through Cameron’s graduate program.
