ERIE, PA - Gannon's Competitive Cheer & Dance team has been named a finalist for the 2026 NCA/NDA Go Be Great Award, it was announced late this past weekend. The Golden Knights are one of five finalists for the award, which is awarded during the NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer & Dance Championships this upcoming weekend.

The award honor teams that have gone above and beyond in their school and community by exemplifying the NFHS Roles of a Cheerleader: Crowd Leader, Ambassador, Spirit Raiser, Athlete, Entertainer, and Leadership.

Gannon's nomination is thanks to the team's efforts and commitments during GU's 2026 Make-A-Wish campaign and reveal. The team was instrumental in planning and organization for the event, along with their continued committed efforts to fundraising, landing them as the top MAW fundraising team for back to back years with Gannon Athletics. 

In addition to Gannon, four other schools have been named finalists: Carl Albert State College, Hope International University, Idaho State University, and Lander University.
