ERIE, PA - The push to the postseason is officially in full swing! This week, two new teams will open up their season, while some winter sports teams will wrap up the regular season of action before gearing up for playoffs.
THIS WEEK IN GANNON ATHLETICS:
#9 Acrobatics & Tumbling (0-0)
Monday, February 9th @ Quinnipiac - 5:00 pm
The season is on!
Addy Womeldorph leads the ninth ranked Golden Knights into their first game of the year on Monday night against Quinnipiac. GU will have two home games following their season opener, first against Duquesne on February 20th.
#5 Women's Basketball (21-2, 13-1 PSAC)
Wednesday, February 11th vs Edinboro - 5:30 pm
Saturday, February 14 @ Seton Hill– 1:00 pm
The Golden Knights continue the second round of PSAC play having already clinched a spot in the PSAC Women's Basketball Tournament, joined by IUP as the first two teams to secure postseason berths.
Ranked fifth in the nation, Gannon is riding a four-game win streak after going 1-0 last week with a win over Cal (PA), a 72-51 triumph. The Golden Knights have now won four straight and are 11-2 inside the Highmark Events Center.
This week will feature two tough matchups for
Cleve Wright's squad. GU will host Edinboro, a team that took them to overtime in January, on Wednesday, before traveling to Seton Hill on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Scots & Griffins are currently locked in a battle for third place in the PSAC West and are both in prime position to clinch a tournament berth.
#6 Men's Basketball (20-2, 13-1 PSAC)
Wednesday, February 11th vs Edinboro - 7:30 pm
Saturday, February 14 @ Seton Hill– 3:00 pm
Saturday was a huge victory for the Golden Knights - avenging their only conference loss of the season by defeating Cal (PA) inside the Highmark Events Center, 115-87. The win propels the Golden Knights to 20-2 and 13-1 in conference play.
Streaks are wild for GU at the moment. They're 11-0 at home and have won seven straight - and are now in sole possession of first place in the PSAC West.
Two more conference matchups await GU this week. First, an Edinboro team that comes to town on Wednesday that is making a run at a tournament berth. Then, on Saturday, a trip to Seton Hill: The Griffins have been reeling after a 7-4 start to conference play and have lost four straight.
Women's Lacrosse (0-0)
The season begins on Saturday! Jenny Pawlowski's squad begins the 2026 campaign this weekend when they travel to face Wheeling for a 1:00 pm start. GU will have six road games to begin the season before their home opener on March 17th.
#3 Men's Wrestling (11-1, 5-0 PSAC)
Saturday, February 14 vs UPJ - 7:00 pm
History is on the line! If Gannon can beat UPJ on Saturday, the Golden Knights will eclipse the program record for wins in a season. They're currently even with that mark, set back in the 1996-97 campaign. GU dispatched Seton Hill, 52-0 last Wednesday. The showdown with the Mountain Cats will be for the PSAC title.
#17 Women's Wrestling (7-10)
Thursday, February 12th vs Bethany - 7:00 pm (SENIOR NIGHT)
After having their Senior Night dual be postponed on Friday against Bethany, the Golden Knights will make up the meet on Thursday, 2/12 to close the regular season. Senior Night festivities will begin at 6:45 pm.
