THE GAME FACTS

  • Game One Final Score: La Salle 20, Gannon 13

  • Game Two Final Score: Saint Francis 12, Gannon 8

ERIE, PA- The Golden Knights started the front end of the Curtis Robinette Invitational with a pair of defeats to La Salle & Saint Francis. GU remained close throughout in both contests and will prepare for two more games tomorrow to close the tournament.

THE KNIGHT CAP - GAME 1

  • Five More for Maria - Maria Martinez (Barcelona, Spain/Jesuïtes Gràcia Col·legi Kostka) continues to be on an absolute tear to start the season. The freshman tallied five more goals, her third straight game with four goals or more, to bring her season total to 19 goals after the first game.
  • Struggle to Start - The first period proved to be difficult for GU, who were outscored 6-3 to begin the game. Gannon would cut into the deficit late in the half but could not close the gap.
  • x2 - Claudia Orte Blanch (Madrid, Spain/IES Profesor Maximo Trueba) tallied two goals in the loss.
THE KNIGHT CAP - GAME 2
  • Early Lead - Gannon would take a 1-0 lead early in the first period but yielded three unanswered goals. The Golden Knights won the third period battle, outscoring St. F 2-1 but were held scoreless in the fourth.
  • HT For Maria - Martinez tallied another hat trick, bringing her team leading season total to 22 goals on the campaign.

THE NEXT GAME

The Golden Knights will close the tournament on Sunday, March 1st against Wheaton College & Penn State Behrend.
