ERIE, PA - Freshman attacker Maria Martinez (Barcelona, Spain/Jesuïtes Gràcia Col·legi Kostka) has been named the WWPA Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced Wednesday by the conference. 

Martinez has been on a torrid pace to start her freshman campaign. The attacker scored ten goals in a two-game span on Sunday in Gannon's two wins over Penn State Behrend and Grove City. Martinez was remarkably accurate, scoring ten goals on just twelve shots taken.

She leads the team in goals through six games with 14 and has a .438 shot percentage. She also earned a steal in the first game on Sunday.

Gannon improved its record to 2-4 and will have four more games this weekend at the Curtis Robinette Invitational in Erie, PA.
