THE KNIGHT CAP
- Writing History - In an emotional first day, Lili Ujfalvi (Kecskemet-heteny, Hungary/Bolyai Janos Secondary School) accomplished a feat no women's wrestler had ever accomplished in program history: 100 wins. The senior won her first two bouts to advance to the semifinals and pick up wins 99 and 100 on her career, including a 6-1 decision in the quarterfinal round.
- Bella Believe It - Seeded first at 180 pounds, defending regional champion Bella Phillips (Bellingham, Wash./Squalicum High School) made quick work of her quarterfinal opponent, earning a technical fall at the 3:11 mark of the second period. She advances to tomorrow's semis.
- Spotless Rose - After dealing with an injury for a major portion of the season, Rose Cassioppi (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah) battled through the pain and scored the final six points of her quarterfinal bout to get to the semis via fall.
- Twice is Nice - Just eight days ago, Kamila Castro (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridhewood) found herself on the winning end of a back and forth victory over Bethany's Myjanniea Baptist. The two met again in the quarterfinal, and despite Castro allowing the first points, the freshman battled to take a 4-2 lead and held the advantage from there to advance to the semifinal round.
DAY TWO
