THE GANNON-UPJÂ SERIES
UPJ Leads 17-2
The Mountain Cats have won five straight, including a 22-13 win over GU last season that clinched the PSAC title. Gannon's two wins, however, have come at the Highmark Events Center, most recently in 2019, when the Golden Knights got the 22-15 victory.
Â
ERIE, Pa. – It doesn't get much better than this at the Division II level. Gannon and UPJ will go head to head on Saturday for the PSAC title inside the Highmark Events Center. It is the 20th all-time matchup between the Golden Knights and Mountain Cats.Â
Â
Every projected bout is tantalizing. Should all starters weigh in and compete, six matchups will be ranked contests, including two top-ten bouts.Â
In addition to claiming a PSAC championship, history is on the line for the Golden Knights. Should GU claim the victory, they would win their 12th dual of the season - which would be a program record. Gannon is currently even with the 1996-97 team with 11 wins on the campaign.Â
Â
A year ago, UPJ defeated Gannon, 22-13, to claim the outright PSAC title.
Kenny Kiser (Meadville, Pa./Saegertown) & Pat Jackson picked up victories in the dual.Â
Gannon's last co-PSAC championship was in 2021-22, one they shared with the Mountain Cats.Â
Â
Gannon is ranked third by the NWCA. UPJ is fifth.Â

FROM HEAD COACH TOM BOYD
"We love to compete and will be ready for UPJ. We look at this as a great opportunity. Our guys have worked hard this season, and we go into every match wanting to score points and win all 10 matches. Winning the PSAC would be great because that would mean we executed what we have worked on since pre-season. Each week we are working to get better and want to hit our stride when we get to Regionals and peak at the National Tournament. Ultimately, winning a national title is why we do this!"
