LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –  Gannon volleyball sophomore Alexis Fowler (Cranberry Township, PA/Eden Christian Academy) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week following an outstanding two-match performance that helped the Golden Knights post a perfect 2-0 record in conference action last week.

The defensive specialist anchored Gannon's defensive effort, totaling 50 digs (6.25 per set), seven assists and three service aces across eight sets as the Golden Knights earned road victories over California (Pa.) and Seton Hill.

The sophomore opened the week with a match-high 22 digs and two service aces in a straight-set victory over California (Pa.) on Friday, Oct. 23. She followed with a season-high 28 digs, six assists and a service ace in a thrilling five-set victory at Seton Hill on Saturday, Oct. 24. The Golden Knights prevailed 20-18 in the deciding fifth set to extend their winning streak to three matches.

Fowler's defensive efforts helped limit Gannon's opponents to a combined .114 hitting percentage during the week. The Golden Knights also outpaced their opponents in digs, 149-131, while securing a berth in the PSAC Tournament.

The honor marks Fowler's second PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week award this season and the fifth conference weekly accolade for the Golden Knights. Fowler becomes the first Gannon volleyball player to earn back-to-back PSAC weekly honors this season and remains one of four Golden Knights to receive conference recognition.

Gannon improved to 18-4 overall and 8-2 in PSAC West action, remaining among the top teams in the division standings.

Gannon returns to the Highmark Events Center on Friday, Oct. 30, to host Slippery Rock in PSAC West action before welcoming California (Pa.) on Saturday, Oct. 31, for Senior Day.
