LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Gannon football linebacker Keoke Toomer (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Defensive Athlete of the Week following his performance in the Golden Knights' 31-14 victory over Edinboro on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Toomer provided one of the game's biggest defensive plays, recovering a fumble and returning it 53 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. The score extended Gannon's early lead to 14-0 and helped spark a dominant first half in which the Golden Knights built a commanding 28-0 halftime advantage.

The touchdown marked Toomer's second fumble return for a score this season, adding to his school-record 100-yard fumble return touchdown against Shepherd on Sept. 12.

His 53-yard return against Edinboro ranks seventh in program history, giving Toomer two of the seven longest fumble returns in Gannon football history. The two returns have totaled 153 yards and accounted for 12 points during the 2026 campaign.

Toomer's performance contributed to a Gannon defense that limited Edinboro to 261 yards of total offense, including just 70 rushing yards on 24 attempts. The Golden Knights recorded four sacks and six tackles for loss while holding the Fighting Scots scoreless in the first half and fourth quarter.

The victory marked Gannon's first win of the 2026 season and its first triumph over Edinboro since a 25-21 victory in 2024.

Gannon returns to McConnell Family Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 31, when the Golden Knights host Indiana (Pa.) in a PSAC West matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for noon as Gannon hosts its Halloween Blackout Game.
