A career defined by service, leadership, and mentorship has earned Bob Shreve national recognition, as he has been named a recipient of the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Lifetime Achievement Award. Shreve was one of 17 honorees selected nationally.

Shreve recently completed his fourth season in the Gannon University Athl Office, marking his second stint with the Golden Knights and concluding a career that spanned more than 40 years in the athletic media relations field.

He officially retired from sports information in the fall of 2025, but continues to assist Gannon Athletics with event operations and historical record tracking.

Shreve was no stranger to Gannon, having previously served as the University's Director of Sports Information and Promotions from 1990–98 before assuming the same role at Edinboro University, where he spent the next 22 years. In all, Shreve accumulated more than four decades of experience in the athletics communications profession.

"Bob has devoted decades of service to countless student-athletes, coaches, fans, and colleagues in sports information across our community, conference, and region," said Gannon Director of Athletics Meghan Morphy. "We are deeply appreciative of his leadership within our department and his lasting impact on the profession throughout his career. Congratulations to Bob on this well-deserved honor."

Shreve holds the rare distinction of having served in athletic communications roles at Edinboro University, Gannon University, and Mercyhurst University, while also working as the Sports Information Director at West Chester University. A 1980 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Shreve began his career in sports information in 1982 at Frostburg State College.

"I am extremely honored to receive this award," said Shreve. "I was fortunate at a young stage of my life to find a job that was perfect for me. Along the way, I worked with many outstanding members of our profession, along with the media, and so many memorable student-athletes and coaches. I'd like to thank those who felt I was deserving of this honor it truly means a great deal. Most importantly, I want to thank the many graduate assistants and student workers who made me look good. That is my proudest accomplishment in this profession the successes they have gone on to enjoy."

Throughout his career, Shreve earned numerous national, regional, and local honors. He was inducted into the Edinboro Athletic Hall of Fame in 2024 and the Erie Metro Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2018. In 2016, he received the ECAC-SIDA Irving T. Marsh Service Award, presented annually to one SID who exemplifies excellence in the profession. Most recently, he was honored with the Lester Jordan Award for his longstanding service with the Academic All-America program.

At the national level, Shreve served with the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America program beginning in 1992, working as a district coordinator since 1993 before advancing to a national coordinator role. He currently serves on the program's publicity staff. Additionally, he was the national coordinator for the D2CCA (formerly Daktronics) men's basketball program from 1996–2017.

Shreve has also been widely recognized for excellence in publications, earning top national honors for football media guides at both Edinboro and Mercyhurst, along with men's basketball guides at Gannon. Over the years, he promoted numerous All-Americans, including Edinboro's two-time Harlon Hill finalist and Hall of Fame quarterback Trevor Harris, as well as Gannon men's basketball national player of the year Troy Nesmith.

Beyond collegiate athletics, Shreve has been a fixture in the Erie sports community for more than three decades, serving as a public address announcer and later the official scorer for the Erie SeaWolves, the Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. He also worked as a statistician for the Erie BayHawks of the NBA G League.

The CSC Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to individuals who have served at least 25 years in the athletics communications profession and who are retiring or leaving the profession. Years of service are vetted by the CSC Special Awards Committee, and members may self-nominate for the award.
