Sophomore fourth Golden Knight to receive award

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Gannon University's Kyle Westfall (Erie, Pa./Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy (Erie)) is the recipient of the NCAA ELITE 90 award for the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship.

Westfall, an Electrical Engineering major, currently carries a 4.00 GPA. The sophomore was presented with the award during the Men's Golf Championship Banquet on Sunday evening in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Gannon is one of 20 teams and eight individuals who will begin play in the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championships on Monday.

The Elite 90 award honors the exceptional achievements of student-athletes. This prestigious accolade is given to those who have not only excelled at a national championship level in their sport but have also achieved the highest academic standards among their peers. The Elite 90 is proudly awarded to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.

Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken by the number of credits completed.

Westfall becomes the fourth Golden Knight and second men's golfer to receive the prestigious Elite 90 Award. Joseph Westrick was the first Gannon recipient, receiving the award in men's cross country in 2019. That same year Lydia Lukomski was the Elite 90 recipient in volleyball. In 2022 Connor Bennink won the award while competing in the men's golf championships.
