Hunter, Stevens Score Twice as Gannon Falls to Seton Hill

ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon women's lacrosse team saw its two-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday with a 14-5 loss to Seton Hill at McConnell Family Stadium. The Golden Knights are now 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the PSAC West while Seton Hill is now 7-4 and 401, respectively.

The contest was much closer than the final score indicated. Gannon led for a good portion of the first half and the two teams were tied at 3-3 at the half. The Golden Knights scored the first goal of the third quarter but found themselves trailing 7-5 after three quarters. Seton Hill ended up scoring the final eight goals of the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Caroline Stevens (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) opened the scoring just 37 seconds into the match, her 27th goal of the year, and after Seton Hill knotted the score Gannon went ahead 2-1 thanks to Ella Todd's (Maple Ridge, British Columbia/Maple Ridge Secondary) 18th goal. The two teams were tied at 2-2 after one period.

The two teams found the back of the net just once in the second quarter. Stevens scored her second goal of the match at 11:48 but five minutes later the Griffins tied it at 3-3. That's how the two teams entered halftime.

Gannon scored the first goal of the second half at12:39 with Charlie Hunter (Boston, N.Y./Hamburg) taking a pass from Todd to make it 4-3. Seton Hill scored three straight goals to take the lead for good at 6-4 but the Golden Knights pulled to within 6-5 at 4:28 thanks to the Hunter from Todd combination again. Unfortunately, the Golden Knights would not score again as Seton Hill scored the final goal of the third quarter and then added seven more in the final period.
