Caroline Stevens (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) delivered a record-setting performance, and
Ella Todd (Maple Ridge, British Columbia/Maple Ridge Secondary) reached a major career milestone as the Gannon University women's lacrosse team cruised to a 22-6 victory over Edinboro on Thursday night at McConnell Family Stadium.
With the win, Gannon improves to 5-11 overall and 2-7 in PSAC West play. Edinboro falls to 2-13 and 0-9 in the conference.
Stevens shattered the program's single-game draw control record with 16, surpassing the previous mark of 13 she had tied last season against Mercyhurst. She added five goals, two assists, and three ground balls to cap off a dominant all-around performance.
Todd notched her 100th career goal during a standout outing that included four goals and four assists. The junior attacker now leads the team with 57 points on the season.
After building a 10-4 halftime lead, Gannon used a dominant second-half surge to put the game away, outscoring Edinboro 12-2 over the final two quarters.
Charlie Hunter (Boston, N.Y./Hamburg) paced the attack with six goals, while
Avrey Kirisits (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster Central) added three goals and two assists.
In total, eight different Golden Knights scored, and Gannon controlled possession with a 23-7 edge in draw controls and a 53-17 shot advantage.
Goalkeepers
Haleigh Manning (Milton, Ga./Cambridge) and
Allison Lerch (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon) combined for six saves, with Manning earning the win.
