Gannon's offense featured five multi-point performers on Monday afternoon, but a pivotal second-quarter surge by Lock Haven proved too much to overcome as the Golden Knights dropped an 18-10 decision.
The loss moves Gannon to 4-11 overall and 1-7 in PSAC West play.
Charlie Hunter (Boston, N.Y./Hamburg) and
Rayla Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) each notched hat tricks to lead Gannon's attack, while
Alyssa Lerch (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon Area) added two goals.
Avrey Kirisits (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster Central) and
Caroline Stevens (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) also found the back of the net, with Stevens tacking on two assists for a three-point outing.
Ella Todd (Maple Ridge, British Columbia/Maple Ridge Secondary) continued her strong playmaking presence, dishing out three assists.
After an even 4-4 opening quarter, the game tilted in the second frame as Lock Haven strung together a seven-goal run. Gannon battled to keep pace, trimming the margin during the third, but the deficit proved too large to overcome in the final quarter.
Goalkeeper
Haleigh Manning (Milton, Ga./Cambridge) finished with 15 saves her seventh game this season with double-digit stops anchoring the Golden Knights in the cage.
