The Gannon University women's lacrosse team heads to Lock Haven Monday, April 21, for a PSAC West clash with the Bald Eagles. Opening draw is set for 3:00 p.m. at Charlotte E. Smith Field, as the Golden Knights wrap up a three-game road trip.
Gannon (4-10, 1-6 PSAC West) looks to bounce back after a tough stretch on the road and close out its home slate with a win. Despite a narrow 13-12 loss to Lock Haven earlier this month, the Golden Knights continue to showcase a dangerous offensive core.
Caroline Stevens (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) leads the team with 35 goals and 75 draw controls, while
Charlie Hunter (Boston, N.Y./Hamburg) (32 goals) and
Ella Todd (Maple Ridge, British Columbia/Maple Ridge Secondary) (25 goals, 28 assists) round out a high-scoring trio.
As a team, Gannon has outpaced its opponents in draw controls 203-173 and owns a strong .474 free position shooting percentage.
In net, senior
Haleigh Manning (Milton, Ga./Cambridge) has been a steady presence, posting 110 saves and a .498 save percentage across 10 starts.
Lock Haven (7-6, 4-3 PSAC West) comes in with momentum and the confidence of a previous win over Gannon. The Bald Eagles are paced by Gabby Gunnip and Makayla Kelly, who have combined for 68 goals this season. Defensively, Lock Haven has forced 154 turnovers and is clearing at an impressive 81.7% rate.
