Game 1 – California (Pa.) 6, Gannon 3
Two swings of the bat changed the complexion of the game. Cal's Payton Conte hit home runs in the third and fifth innings to lead the Vulcans. Cal opened the scoring in the top of the second with a run but Gannon answered with a run in the bottom of the frame thanks to Connor Smith (Sewickley, Pa./North Allegheny). The redshirt sophomore hit a long home run to left field, his second of the season. Smith began his career at Cal. Conte hit his first home in the third, a solo shot, but Gannon went ahead 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth with a pair of runs. Ian Soto (Florida, Puerto Rico/Academia Cristiana de Manati) led off the inning with a walk and Smith followed with a bloop single to left center. Brendan Koroly's (Mars, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) sacrifice moved up both runners and with two outs Drew Stangelo (Uniontown, Ohio/North Canton Hoover) hit a two-run double to right center. Cal took the lead for good in the fifth inning thanks to a two-run homer from Conte. The Vulcans added two more runs in the sixth. Ryan Hood (Latrobe, Pa./Derry Area) went the first six inning and suffered the loss to go to 2-1. Ryan Bioni (Bridgeville, Pa./Chartiers Valley) tossed a scoreless seventh inning. Smith accounted for two of Gannon's five hits. The Golden Knights left seven runners on base, five in scoring position.

Game 2 – Gannon 6, California (Pa.) 1
After a 0-for-4 effort in game one West Parker stepped to the plate and hit a tape-measure home run to left field in his first at bat for a 1-0 lead. It was Parker's seventh of the season. Gannon extended its lead to 4-0 with three runs on five hits in the second. Consecutive singles with one out by Brendan Koroly (Mars, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic), Hunter Troiano (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seneca Valley) and Drew Stangelo (Uniontown, Ohio/North Canton Hoover) loaded the bases. Down in the count 0-2, freshman Tommy Koroly (Mars, Pa./North Catholic) worked the count full and then hit a single to center to drive in his brother. Following an out Alex Bemis (Monroe, Ohio/Monroe) doubled to left center to drive in two more runs. Both teams scored a run in the third inning to make it 5-1. Gannon's run came home on a single to center by Troiano. The Golden Knights ended the scoring with a run in the fifth as Ian Soto (Florida, Puerto Rico/Academia Cristiana de Manati) had his third hit of the game with Connor Smith (Sewickley, Pa./North Allegheny) following with a double. Soto scored on an error. Jake Boynar (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville) threw the first four innings allowing three hits and two walks with four strikeouts to improve to 2-2. Logan Ayres (New Castle, Pa./Laurel) threw the final three innings to earn his first save. The lefthander retired the final eight batters he faced and allowed just one hit with two strikeouts.
