The Gannon competitive cheer and dance teams will compete this weekend on Saturday, February 22, at the New England Open Cheer and Dance Championship. The event will be held at East Haven High School in East Haven, Connecticut. This marks the first time the Golden Knights will participate in this competition.

"GUCCD is excited to hit the road and take on the NECA Collegiate Championship for the first time," commented Makowski. "We look forward to this new experience, as it provides a fantastic opportunity for the team to showcase our ongoing progress on the road to Daytona. Each event helps us grow and brings us one step closer to our ultimate goal."

Recently, Makowski's team had a successful season opener at Penn State Behrend on February 2, where the Golden Knights achieved three first-place finishes. They scored 95.76 out of 100 points in Game Day Cheer, 73.43 out of 80 points in Team Performance Dance, and 63.66 out of 70 points in Hip Hop Dance.
