Women's Wrestling Hosts Lehigh to Conclude Dual Season

ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon women's wrestling team wraps up the regular season on Saturday, February 15 hosting Lehigh. The match gets underway at 1:00 p.m. at the Highmark Events Center and is the first meeting between the two teams.

Gannon has set a school record this year for dual wins at 11-3 and is ranked 19th by The Open Mat and is tied for 24th in the NWCA rankings.

Second-year head coach Erin Vandiver can call on a lineup that includes five wrestlers ranked either by the NWCA or The Open Mat. Jayden Bazemore (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Ranch) leads the way at seventh at 124 lbs. by The Open Mat and eighth by the NWCA. Bazemore owns a 16-6 record.

Bazemore is the lone Golden Knight in both polls. Bella Phillips (Bellingham, Wash./Squalicum High School) is ranked seventh at 180 lbs. by The Open Mat. She has already set a school record wins in a season showing a 33-6 record.

Nyla Burgess (Ajax, Ontario/Pickering High School) is ranked 11th by The Open Mat at 160 lbs. with an 18-6 record. Kat Pendergrass (Bracey, Va./South Granville (N.C.)) is 16th at 110 lbs. and Lili Ujfalvi (Kecskemet-heteny, Hungary/Bolyai Janos Secondary School) is 18th at 138 lbs. according to The Open Mat. Pendergrass is 24-3 and Ujfalvi 22-5.

Following Saturday's dual the Golden Knights will compete in the NCWWC Regional on Saturday, February 22. Tiffin will host the qualifier for the NCWWC National Championships.
