Initiated for the 2011-12 academic year, the PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 awards and honor the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 22 team championship finals. Westfall won the Elite 90 Award at NCAA Championships this past spring.
The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is nearly identical to that of the NCAA Elite 90 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship finals sites of the 90 NCAA championships across all three divisions - I, II and III.
Student-athletes must meet the following criteria:
1. Must have completed at least 48 credit hours (which could include accepted credits from previous institutions).
2. Must be utilizing at least his/her second year of eligibility as a student-athlete at your institution.
3. Is an active member on the team's roster and a member of the squad competing in the respective PSAC Championship.
Westfall becomes the fourth Golden Knight men's golfer to receive a PSAC Champion Scholar award. Previously, Sean Mahon (2x, 2013-14 and 2014-15), Matt Barto (2x, 2016-17 & 2017-18), and Ethan Bennett (2019-20) were previously selected from Gannon.
