After dropping the first two sets on the road, the Gannon volleyball team rallied back to complete a thrilling reverse sweep over Slippery Rock on Saturday afternoon.
The win marked the Golden Knights' ninth straight victory and kept them perfect in PSAC West play.
Gannon improved to 14-4 overall and 5-0 in the PSAC West, while Slippery Rock dropped to 9-9 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
Ella Woltman (Munster, Ind./Munster) powered the comeback with a career day, finishing with 14 kills on .324 hitting to lead four Golden Knights in double figures.
Lauren Atwell (Mars, Pa./Mars Area) added 13 kills and five total blocks,
Abbey Williams (Chicago, Ill./Mother Mcauley Liberal Arts) tallied 12 kills, two aces, and 16 digs, and
Sydney Wake (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson) chipped in 11 kills. Setter
Bengisu Arslan (Ankara, Turkey/Private Çankaya Doga Anatolian) fueled the offense with 52 assists and 13 digs.
The Rock, who had fallen in straight sets to Edinboro the previous night, couldn't recover from Gannon's late push as the Knights hit .452 in the fourth set and .409 in the decisive fifth to seal the comeback.
"What an incredible experience that was! Slippery Rock was playing great and had us in a bad spot early in the match and then again in the fifth set, but we made some remarkable comebacks and got a great win.
Ella Woltman (Munster, Ind./Munster) gave us a huge lift today, showing again that you need a full team," said head coach
Matt Darling.
