Division I Transfer Carpenter Joins Golden Knights

ERIE, Pa. – Gannon University men's basketball coach Easton Bazzoli has announced his 11th and likely last recruit for the 2024-25 season. Bruce Carpenter, a 6-foot-2 guard from Atlanta, Ga., is the newest Golden Knight.

Carpenter played in 2023-24 at Division I Houston Christian University and prior to that played at North Platte Community College and Southeastern Community College.

"We are really excited to add Bruce to this talented group," commented Bazzoli. "Bruce is an experienced leader that has proven to be able to impact the game in multiple ways. His ability to score at all 3 levels as well as create for his teammates will prove to be an impact in our play style. This is the kind of guy that's mentality fits "The System" well and I cannot wait for him to arrive on campus in a few weeks."

Carpenter appeared in just three games for the Huskies last year before suffering a season-ending injury. He averaged 18.0 minutes per game and 7.3 ppg. along with 2.0 rpg. He made 5-of-14 field goals and was 12-of-15 at the line.  He added five assists and two steals with a blocked shot.

His top game was a 15-point effort while playing 25 minutes against Florida International. He made 4-of-8 field goals and went 7-of-9 at the line.
In 2022-23 Carpenter played at North Platte CC in Nebraska, averaging 19.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists for the Knights. He was selected to the NCCAC All-Conference team and also earned All-Region IX third-team honors.

Carpenter spent his first two college season at Southeastern CC in North Burlington, Iowa, where he averaged 7.5 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
Carpenter attended McIntosh High School in Peachtree City, Ga., where he was a three-year starter. He averaged 16.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per game as a senior.

"The reason I chose Gannon is because of the winning culture and I feel like I can make a major impact on and off the court," explained Carpenter. "I feel like the up tempo play style will fit my game very well and I believe this team can do something very special this year and I'm looking forward to the season."
