Seton Hill pulls away from Gannon women's lacrosse team in second half

Golden Knights stay close to Griffins for much of the first half before SHU dominates second half

ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon women's lacrosse team stayed relatively close to Seton Hill in the first half on Wednesday, but in the second half the Griffins showed why they are a PSAC powerhouse.
 
The Golden Knights trailed by four goals at the half before Seton Hill outscored them 12-1 in the second half to claim a 22-7 victory in a PSAC match at McConnell Family Stadium.
 
Gannon dropped to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in the PSAC West, while SHU improved to 5-3 and 3-0.
 
Seton Hill's Skylar Orlowski entered the game leading the PSAC in points. She only strengthened her lead with an eight-point game on seven goals and one assist. The 2023 PSAC West All-Star now leads the PSAC with 46 points and is among the leaders with 29 goals and 17 assists.
 
Her teammate, Piper Conlan, added a hat trick and one assist for four points.
 
Gannon was led by senior attacker McKenna Woodworth (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads), who scored three goals and had one assist. Charlie Hunter (Boston, N.Y./Hamburg) added a goal and two assists.
 
Macy Hepditch's (Waterloo, Ontario/Resurrection Catholic) goal with 9:20 left in the first quarter gave Gannon an early 3-2 lead.
 
However, the Griffins soon displayed why they are a favorite in the PSAC West title race again after going 12-0 in the conference last season.
 
SHU scored the final three goals of the period to take a 5-3 lead and outscored GU 5-3 again in the second quarter to take a 10-6 lead.
 
In the second half, Seton Hill scored 11 consecutive goals to take a 21-6 lead.
