Goodrick Named PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week for Second Time

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners in basketball on Monday afternoon. Gannon's Tasman Goodrick (Sydney, Australia/St. Joseph's College) was named the PSAC West Men's Basketball Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. He was previously recognized on November 19.

A 6-foot-9 forward from Sydney, Australia, Goodrick led the Golden Knights to a pair of wins this past week as first-year head coach Easton Bazzoli's team has now won eight straight games to improve to 8-2. Gannon posted a 113-67 win at Mansfield on Friday and followed that up the next day with a 100-73 victory at Shippensburg.

Goodrick was selected while seeing limited playing time in the two games. In fact, he played just 35 minutes with 15 minutes at Mansfield and 20 at Shippensburg. He still turned in some a pair of impressive performances while pacing a Gannon defense that continues to excel.  Mansfield shot just 37.0 percent from the floor and Shippensburg 41.0 percent. The defense forced 56 total turnovers while outrebounding Mansfield by 14 and Shippensburg by six boards.

A transfer from Cal Baptist in his first season as a Golden Knight, the sophomore contributed eight points and eight rebounds in 15 minutes at Mansfield, adding two blocks and two steals. The next day he played 20 minutes at Shippensburg and posted his sixth double-double of the season. He scored 12 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, adding a steal and a block.

Goodrick is averaging 14.2 points and 10.9 rebounds over the first ten games, with 14 blocked shots. He ranks third in the PSAC in rebounding and is fourth in blocked shots.

Gannon returns to action on Tuesday, December 17 hosting Shepherd.
