Prosser Jump Starts Golden Knights to Eighth Straight Win, 100-73 at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Freshman Pace Prosser's (Berlin, Pa./Berlin Brothersvalley) hustle and 26 points jumpstarted 22nd-ranked Gannon, as the Golden Knights made it eight wins in a row with a 100-73 win at Shippensburg. Gannon is now 8-2 overall and 4-0 in PSAC action. Shippensburg dipped to 2-7 and 1-3, respectively.

Shippensburg did a solid job of handling Gannon's press in eth first half, and the Raiders found themselves trailing by just two points at 35-33 late in the half. Gannon pulled away late in the half and took a 46-38 lead into the locker room when Prosser hit a 3-pointer in the final seconds.

A team of big spurts, the Raiders had limited Gannon to one big spurt in the first half, that a ten-point run. But a 21-5 run to start the second half gave a Gannon a comfortable margin throughout the second half. The lead would grow to as much as 33 points in the second half.

Gannon returns to action against another PSAC East foe on Tuesday, December 17. The Golden Knights host Shepherd that evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Donovan Hill opened the scoring with a pair of free throws, but Pace Prosser's (Berlin, Pa./Berlin Brothersvalley) 3-pointer gave Gannon the lead at 3-2 with 19:11 left.

The Golden Knights biggest run of the half was a 10-0 outburst in a span of two-and-a-half minutes. Gannon went from a 15-10 lead at the 14:12 mark to 25-10 with 11:49 remaining. Prosser started it with a pair of free throws and Justin DeBuck (Broward County, Fla./Pembroke Pines Charter) followed with a turnaround jumper. Ernest Shelton (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) hit his lone basket of the half, a 3-pointer, to make it 22-10. Victor Desmond (Onalaska, Wisc./Onalaska) capped the run with another three.

That would be Gannon's lone big run of the half but a Shippensburg run pulled the Raiders back into the contest. Thanks to a 13-3 burst the Raiders moved to within a basket at 35-33 with 2:37 remaining in the half.

Lucas Sekasi's (Washington, DC/Jackson-Reed) layup and a floater in the lane by DeBuck gave the Golden Knights some breathing room. When Prosser hit a three in the final seconds Gannon's lead grew to 46-38 at the half. The freshman guard enjoyed a big first half with 15 points and six rebounds.

Shelton opened the second half with a three to give Gannon an 11-point margin and the Golden Knights would hold a double-digit lead the rest of the day. That bucket began a 21-5 run to start the second half, with Gannon running off the final 12 points.

Leading 55-43, Gannon quickly made it 67-43 with 12 straight points. It was Prosser, of course, who got it started with 2 3-pointer followed by a conventional 3-point play. Lucas Sekasi (Washington, DC/Jackson-Reed) scored following a turnover, and Shelton made a pair of free throws after another turnover. Another turnover led to a Shelton layup and a 67-43 lead with 12:57 remaining.
The only question then was would the Golden Knights reach 100 points for the third straight game. Gannon had 96 points with just under three minutes to play, but it wasn't until Sekasi scored on a layup with 17 seconds left that the Golden Knights hit three figures.
