Women's Wrestling Tames the Bengals to Improve to 7-0

ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon women's wrestling team remained undefeated on Friday afternoon, posting a 47-0 win over Buffalo State at the Recreation and Wellness Center. The win leaves the Golden Knights with a perfect 7-0 record while Buffalo State is now 3-5.

Originally scheduled to be a tri-meet, West Liberty on Thursday night pulled out due to weather and travel conditions.

Gannon took it out on the Bengals, winning all six matches that were wrestled by bonus points. Kallah Zacherl (Erie, Pa./) (138 lbs.), Ariana Gonzalez (Cypress, Calif./John F. Kennedy) (180 lbs.) and Bella Phillips (Bellingham, Wash./Squalicum High School) (207 lbs.) won by falls, all in the first period.

In addition, Brielle Larsen (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) won by technical fall at 117 lbs., as did Jayden Bazemore (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Ranch) at 131 lbs. and Lili Ujfalvi (Kecskemet-heteny, Hungary/Bolyai Janos Secondary School) at 145 lbs.

Gannon received three forfeit victories and also picked up a medical forfeit.

The Golden Knights will now break for finals before returning to action on Sunday, December 15 facing a strong field at the North Central Open.
