ERIE, Pa. – Basketball player
Trinitee Harris (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Central) and football player Donell "Tank" Mason have been selected as the Gannon University Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Nov. 19. The Gannon Student-Athlete of the Week Award is sponsored by Chick-fil-A of Erie.
Harris, a senior point guard, scored the biggest basket in the Gannon women's basketball team's 71-68 victory over Charleston in West Virginia on Saturday.
With Gannon trailing 68-67 with 19.3 seconds to go, the Golden Knights inbounded the ball to Harris. She drove to the left side, reversed court, and sliced down the right side of the lane for a layup with 7.3 seconds remaining. That gave Gannon a 69-68 lead and proved to be the winning basket.
Her effort helped the No. 11-ranked Golden Knights improve to 7-0 with the non-conference victory.
Harris started at point guard, played 25 minutes, and finished with six points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
Mason, a 5-foot-10, 172-pound wide receiver had seven receptions for 120 yards in Gannon's season-ending 21-13 loss to Lock Haven on Saturday at McConnell Family Stadium. Several of his catches were outstanding grabs, including one while he was lying on his back.
It was Mason's second consecutive 100-yard receiving game after he had seven catches for 121 yards and a TD in GU's win over Clarion on Nov. 9.
The junior now ranks sixth in Gannon history with 115 receptions for 1,715 yards. Mason closed the 2024 season with 49 catches for 769 yards. He scored three touchdowns.
