Golden Knights Improve to 6-0 with 38-5 Win at D'Youville

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Gannon women's wrestling team remained undefeated on Friday evening with a convincing 38-5 win at D'Youville. The Golden Knights improved to 6-0 and are currently ranked 15th in the latest NWCA Women's Wrestling Rankings. D'Youville dipped to 0-4.

The Golden Knights earned forfeit wins in the first two matches then ran off seven wins in the final eight bouts. Six of those wins were via bonus points, with two falls and four technical falls.

Gannon built up a 27-1 lead with wins in the first six matches. Brielle Larsen (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) and Jayden Bazemore (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Ranch) picked up technical falls at 117 and 131 lbs. Bazemore, ranked fifth nationally, improved to 13-3 on the season. In between those two tech. falls Hannah McCarley (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda High) won by fall at 124 lbs. Lili Ujfalvi (Kecskemet-heteny, Hungary/Bolyai Janos Secondary School) won a 6-3 decision at 138 lbs. to boost her record to 10-3.

D'Youville won by technical fall at 145 lbs. for its lone win of the night, but Gannon ran off three straight wins to end the night, all by bonus points. Bella Phillips (Bellingham, Wash./Squalicum High School) is now 16-4 at 180 lbs. after winning by fall.

The Golden Knights return to action on Sunday, November 24 competing in the BW Open hosted by Baldwin Wallace.
