After a successful weekend in Michigan, the Gannon women's wrestling team is set to travel to Buffalo and go toe-to-toe with D'Youville on Friday night. The dual is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. inside the Saints Center.
 
Coach Erin Vandiver's Golden Knights enter the meet with a  5-0 record and were ranked 18th in the most recent The Open Mat dual rankings. All five duals were in the Adrian Duals.
 
The Golden Knights opened the dual season with a 31-12 win over No. 10 Aurora and then took down No. 11 Schreiner 23-22. Gannon also earned wins over Hiram (48-1), Brock (26-18), and Adrian (36-14) to conclude a successful wrestling day.
 
In addition, Gannon finished seventh out of 30 teams in the Adrian Invitational, which was held on the next day.
 
Gannon's lineup against the Saints features five nationally-ranked wrestlers. Jayden Bazemore (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Ranch) is the highest ranked No. 5 in her weight class. The junior from Texas, will take the mat at 124 pounds and has a 12-3 record.
 
Nyla Burgess (Ajax, Ontario/Pickering High School) is ranked No. 10 and holds a 7-1 record will compete at 160 pounds, while freshman teammate Bella Phillips (Bellingham, Wash./Squalicum High School), who is 15-4, will wrestle at 180 pounds and ranks No. 12.
 
Brielle Larson, ranked No. 19 in the 117 weight class, is 4-3, while Kat Pendergrass (Bracey, Va./South Granville (N.C.)) rounds out the ranked lineup with a 10.2 record and is currently ranked No. 20 at 110 pounds.
 
The Golden Knights will return to action on Saturday, November 24, in Berea, Ohio when they compete in the Baldwin Wallace Open.
