ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon volleyball team continued its streak of hot play, and in the process, the Golden Knights opened a three-match lead in the PSAC West.

Matt Darling's Gannon team won its 10
th match in a row, and the Knights are winning in dominant fashion. Saturday's 25-19, 25-17, 25-23 win over Seton Hill was their fourth consecutive three-set sweep. It came against a team that pushed Gannon to five sets in their matchup during the first half of the PSAC West season.
Gannon improved to 17-5 overall and moved to 9-0 in the PSAC West. The Knights now own a three-game lead over Seton Hill and Clarion, both of which are 6-3 in the PSAC West. Seton Hill dropped to 17-5 overall.
How it happened:
Gannon raced to leads of 9-2 and 23-12 in the first set. Seton Hill then made a run, scoring six consecutive points to cut the lead to 23-18. However, two kills by senior outside hitter
Journey Blevins (Richwood, Ohio/North Union) sealed the set.
Gannon led the second set just 11-9 before going on a 9-2 run that made it 20-11. GU eventually clinched the set on a block by senior right side
Hailey Koch (Littleton, Col./Dakota Ridge) and senior middle blocker
Ali Sorenson (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln Way East).
The fifth set was back and forth the whole way before kills by Koch and Sorenson help to secure the set and the match.
By the numbers:
Blevins led Gannon with 10 kills, while Koch and Sorenson had nine apiece.
Junior setter
Bengisu Arslan (Ankara, Turkey/Private Çankaya Doga Anatolian) continued her average of 10 assists per set by compiling 30 assists in the three-set win.
Senior libero
Emma Hall (Lowell, Mich./Lowell) paced Gannon with 17 digs.
What's ahead:
Gannon will continue its run of home matches when it hosts Pitt-Johnstown on Friday at 7 p.m. and Clarion on Saturday at 4 p.m.
