CEDAR FALLS, Ohio – The Gannon women's wrestling team was two tiebreaker points away from a 3-1 weekend at the NWCA National Duals.

Instead, the Golden Knights lost both tiebreakers, the second one coming in a 24-23 loss to Aurora on Saturday in the Place 13-15 round-robin bracket at the UNI-Dome. Earlier on Saturday, Gannon collected its lone win of the two-day tournament with a 34-15 victory over New Jersey City. GU went 0-2 on the first day after losing a tiebreaker against Elmira to fall into the 13-15 bracket.

The 15-team tournament featured most of the premier women's wrestling programs in the nation, including No. 1 Iowa, which defeated No. 2 North Central College 22-21 in the championship dual on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore 170-pounder Schyler Caringi (Earlton, N.Y./Coxsackie-Athens) led Gannon throughout the weekend with four pins in four matches. After recording two falls on Friday, she had two more on Saturday. She pinned New Jersey City's Emely Rodriguez in just nine seconds and then earned a fall against Aurora's Nydia Martinez in 1:09.

Freshman Kealonie Vega (Kissimmee, Fla./Osceola) had a big day Saturday with a pair of falls at 109 pounds. She pinned Dyanne Pelaez of New Jersey City in 1:39 and then earned a fall against Camila Neuman of Aurora in 2:32.

Zoe Gaetjens (Mogadore, Ohio/Mogadore) had Gannon's other win on the mat against New Jersey City with a 13-2 technical fall as NJC forfeited four matches.

Kat Pendergrass (Bracey, Va./South Granville (N.C.)) (116) and Jayden Bazemore (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Ranch) (123) recorded falls against Aurora, and Lili Ujfalvi (Kecskemet-heteny, Hungary/Bolyai Janos Secondary School) (143) logged a 4-1 decision.
