Omojafo Named to Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Gannon University's Josh Omojafo (Hamilton, Ontario/St. Jean de Brebeuf) has been named to the Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List for the 2023-24 season. The National Awards Committee and Small College Basketball announced the Top 100 Watch List that consists of some of the top players from NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA.

The Clarence "Bevo" Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball. Considerations include season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements. It is an incredibly prestigious award, as this award will only be given to one player within Small College Basketball per season. 2024 marks the eighth year of the Bevo Francis Award.

Omojafo is a 6'5" sophomore from Hamilton, Ontario. He has led the resurgence of Gannon men's basketball under first-year head coach Jordan Fee. After posting a 3-23 record a year ago the Golden Knights have reversed their fortunes and have a 13-2 record. They are ranked in both the NABC and D2CSC Top 25 polls.

One of the most improved players in the PSAC after averaging 8.2 ppg. as a freshman, Omojafo leads Gannon and ranks second in the PSAC in scoring at 20.7 ppg. He is shooting 54.9 percent from the floor, good for sixth in the PSAC, with 12 3-pointers in 40 attempts. In addition he is 106-of-129 from the free throw line, good for sixth in the PSAC in free throw percentage at 82.2 percent. He is first in the PSAC and third nationally in free throws made and attempted. Omojafo ranks third on the team in steals (28) and has 20 assists.

He scored 21 points on Saturday in an 84-58 win over Indiana (Pa.), his eighth game with 20-or-more points. That includes three games of 30-or-more points. He dropped in a career-high 32 points vs. West Chester along with scoring at Bloomsburg and 30 at California (Pa.).

On February 15th, the list will be reduced to the Top 50 players. One month later on March 15th, the Top 25 players will be announced. The finalists and Bevo Francis Award winner announcement release date is TBD. More information will be available in the coming months.
