The Gannon University women's volleyball team has been honored with a Team Academic Award by the United States Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.

Matt Darling's team finished the 2022-23 academic year with a cumulative GPA of 3.65.
"The commitment our coaches make to help their student-athletes pursue the best versions of themselves is evident in the academic accomplishments highlighted today." AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon said on Thursday afternoon when the organization announced the Team Academic Award honorees. "Achievement on the court has always been closely tied to success in the classroom which is reflected by the number of championship programs honored."
The Golden Knights had another memorable year on the court. They won the PSAC West regular-season title, the PCAC Tournament championship, and the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional. The Knights also advanced to the NCAA D-II Elite Eight and finished with a 29-6 record. They also earned many individual honors along the way.
