Jacobs, Stevens Score Twice in 15-8 Loss to No. 23 Seton Hill

ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon women's lacrosse team completed its run of back-to-back games against the best in the PSAC West on Wednesday afternoon with a 15-8 loss to No. 23 Seton Hill. The Golden Knights are now 3-10 overall and 3-5 in the PSAC West while Seton Hill improved to 10-3 and 8-0, respectively.

The two teams battled for the majority of the first period without a goal before Seton Hill broke the ice with 2:25 remaining. The Golden Knights responded with a goal twenty seconds later, as Alli Jacobs (Eden, N.Y./Eden) scored her 18th goal of the season. The Griffins added a goal in the final minute for a 2-1 lead after one period.

That goal began a string of seven straight goals as Seton Hill took an 8-1 lead midway through the second period. Charlie Hunter (Boston, N.Y./Hamburg) scored at the 5:14 mark to make it 8-2, but the Griffins scored one more goal in the half for a 9-2 advantage, then opened the third period with two more goals for an 11-2 lead.

As has been the case all year, the Golden Knights battled with six of the next seven goals to pull to within 12-7. They scored four straight goals to end the third and began the fourth period, with Caroline Stevens (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool), McKenna Woodworth (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads), Grace Cunningham (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) and Alex Kirisits doing the honors.  Seton Hill scored the next goals to halt the rally.

The Griffins ended up with a 35-27 advantage in shots and committed one more turnover than Gannon (19 to 18). Gannon was successful on 11-of-17 clears while the Griffins were 14-of-16. Jacobs and Stevens had two goals apiece, while Haleigh Manning (Milton, Ga./Cambridge) finished with nine saves.

Gannon returns to action on Saturday, April 15 playing at Lock Haven. The match gets underway at 1:00 p.m.
