No. 2 Seed Gannon to Meet No. 7 Charleston (WV) in NCAA Atlantic Regional

Golden Knights selected for 14th NCAA postseason appearance

ERIE, Pa. – The NCAA this evening announced the 64 teams that will compete in the 2023 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. The Gannon women's basketball team will make its 14th NCAA Tournament appearance as the No. 2 seed in the 2023 Atlantic Regional, which will be hosted by defending national champion Glenville State University at the Waco Center beginning this Friday, March 10. This will be Gannon's eighth NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Cleve Wright.
 
The Golden Knights finished as the PSAC runner-up on Sunday as California (Pa.) denied Gannon a third consecutive PSAC championship with a 75-63 victory.

Gannon (29-4) will open tournament play against No. 7 seed Charleston (WV) (23-8), the Mountain East Conference runner-up, on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.  The other matchup on Gannon's side of the bracket features third-seed West Chester (22-8) against California (Pa.) (21-10) in a rematch of Saturday's PSAC semifinal, won by Cal. That game tips off at 12 noon.
The two quarterfinal winners will meet at 5:00 p.m. Saturday evening in the semifinals.

   
Friday's second set of quarterfinal games features top-seed and host Glenville State (29-2), the MEC champion, squaring off against CIAA champion Elizabeth City State (20-10), the eighth seed, at 5:00 p.m.. The day concludes with No. 4 seed Shippensburg (24-6) meeting No. 5 seed West Virginia State (22-8) at 7:30 p.m.  

The winners of the eight regionals will convene in St. Joseph's, Mo. for the Elite Eight quarterfinals and semifinals on March 20-22. The NCAA Division II National Championship game will take place in Dallas, Texas on April 1.
