No. 8 Gannon Wraps Up Regular Season with Pair of Wins at Adrian Duals

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Gannon women's wrestling team wrapped up the 2022-23 regular season on Tuesday night with a pair of wins in the Adrian Duals. In a matchup of nationally-ranked squads, the eighth-ranked Golden Knights defeated No. 12 Adrian 28-20. In their second dual the Knights prevailed 28-8 over Siena Heights to finish the dual season at 8-4.

Head coach Breonnah Neal's squad picked up wins in the final two bouts to rally from a 20-19 deficit against Adrian. Sixth-ranked Jewel Gonzalez (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) won by forfeit at 170- lbs., and Annebelle Helm clinched the win with a technical fall over Sienna Lejuene, 10-0, at 191 lbs. Helm came in ranked seventh at 170 lbs.

Brielle Larson (116 lbs.) and Jayden Bazemore (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Ranch) (123) won by fall and Lili Ujfalvi (Kecskemet-heteny, Hungary/Bolyai Janos Secondary School) won by technical fall at 143 lbs.

Gannon picked up four wins by forfeit against Siena Heights along with a technical fall by Lawson at 116 lbs. and another by Samira Stephens (Geismar, La./Dutchtown) at 155 lbs. Both won by 10-0 scores.

Gannon will return to the mat on Saturday, February 18 hosting the NCWWC Northeast Regional at the Recreation and Wellness Center. The wrestling gets underway at 10:00 a.m.
