Josh Omojafo (Hamilton, Ontario/St. Jean de Brebeuf) have been named the
Gannon University Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Nov. 14. The Gannon Student-Athlete of the Week Award is sponsored by Chick-fil-A of Erie.
Koch, a right-side hitter, had a strong week offensively and defensively as Gannon clinched the No. 1 Western seed for the PSAC Tournament.
The 6-foot-3 junior finished with 30 kills, eight total blocks, and eight digs in two matches.
She had a team-high 16 kills, seven total blocks, and six digs in a five-set loss to Edinboro on Wednesday. Koch then turned in a team-best 14 kills and a .542 hitting percentage with just one error in a three-set win over Mercyhurst.
Koch added 10 kills in Gannon's PSAC quarterfinal sweep of Pitt-Johnstown on Tuesday night.
Omojafo, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, led the Golden Knights to a pair of upset wins in the Atlantic Region Challenge this past weekend. He set career highs for points in both games while averaging 24.5 points over the two contests.
In Gannon's season-opening 140-108 win over Glenville State on Friday night, the native of Hamilton, Ontario was one of eight players in double figures with 21 points in 20 minutes as Gannon broke its single-game record for points. The sophomore made 5-of-10 field goals, including 2-of-4 3-pointers, and was 9-of-10 at the free-throw line. He added two assists, a rebound, and a steal.
The next night Gannon handed host Charleston (WV) a 91-83 defeat, rallying from a nine-point deficit in the second half. Omojafo led the way with a career-high 28 points in 26 minutes of action. He made 10-of-16 field goals, going 1-of-4 from beyond the 3-point stripe and 7-of-9 from the foul line. He pulled down three rebounds and had four steals.
