ADRIAN, Mich. – The Gannon women's wrestling team had five place-winners and finishied sixth among a tough field of 23 teams at the Adrian College Women's Invitational on Sunday.

Annabelle Helm (Vancouver, Wash./Union) led Gannon with a fourth-place finish at 170 pounds, and Lili Ujfalvi (Kecskemet-heteny, Hungary/Bolyai Janos Secondary School) took fifth at 143 pounds. Other place-winners were Kat Pendergrass (Bracey, Va./South Granville (N.C.)) (sixth at 116 pounds), Jayden Bazemore (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Ranch) (seventh at 123), and Christina Chavez (Chandler, Ariz./Arizona College Preparatory) (eighth at 191).

Gannon finished with 86 points to tie host Adrian for sixth place. The tournament was won by North Central College (Naperville, Ill.), which had seven individual champions on the way to racking up 507.5 points, which was 314 more than second-place Lock Haven.

Helm had an excellent performance after losing her first match 1-0 to Payton Curley of Lourdes University. A returning All-American, Helm ran off five consecutive victories, including a fall, technical fall, and three decisions. Her fifth win was a 4-0 victory over Curley in the consolation semifinals. Helm then forfeited the fourth-place match to Mackenzie Konanz or Aurora.

Ujfalvi, another returning All-American, won by fall before losing to eventual champion Grave Stem of Lock Haven in the quarterfinals. Ujfalvi then racked up two more tech falls before losing in the consolation semifinals to North Central's Kendall Bostelman. Ujfalvi won by no contest in the fifth-place match.

After going 1-1 early in the tournament, Pendergrass had a run of three straight bonus-point wins in the consolation rounds, including two tech falls and a pin. She then forfeited the fifth-place mach.

Bazemore, who had two wins in duals on Saturday, had a 4-2 record on Sunday. She won by technical fall twice to reach the quarterfinals where she lost to Lock Haven's Victoria Smith. Bazemore  added another technical fall before beating Angela LoRusso of Adrian by fall in the seventh-place match.

Chavez had two wins on her way to an eighth-place finish. Kealonie Vega (Kissimmee, Fla./Osceola) (109) and Schyler Caringi (Earlton, N.Y./Coxsackie-Athens) (170) also had two wins but didn't place.
