No. 13 Golden Knights Defeat Seton Hill 3-0 in Less-Than-Ideal Conditions

ERIE, Pa. – A steady rain and gusting winds didn't bother the Gannon men's soccer team on Saturday night. The 13th-ranked Golden Knights improved to 10-0-1 and 3-0-0 in the PSAC West with a 3-0 shutout of Seton Hill at McConnell Family Stadium. Seton Hill dropped to 2-8-0 and 1-2-0, respectively.

Lennox Crews (Offenbach, Germany/Leibnizschule) gave Gannon a 1-0 lead when he blasted a free kick from 30 yards out on the right wing past Seton Hill goalkeeper Aidan Hollander at 22:06.

Pau Ferrer (Valencia, Spain/ISES Isabel de Villena) accounted for Gannon's second goal after Hollander was able to save a high blast on a free kick by Sverre Orten (Orsta, Norway/Aalesund vgs). The redshirt sophomore was there to gather in the rebound in front of the goal and chip it in for a 2-0 lead at 65:36.

After scoring four goals in Wednesday's win over Lock Haven, Tinashe Katsande (Norwich, England/Dereham Sixth Form College) found the back of the net once again for his ninth goal of the season in the 80th minute. The goal was a perfect display of passing by the Golden Knights. Ferrer fed Charlie Petersen (Erie, Pa./McDowell), who one-touched it to Katsande at the left corner of the goal. Katsande redirected it for the goal at 79:45. Ferrer now has a team-high 10 assists.

The Golden Knights outshot Seton Hill 24-5, including 11-2 in shots on goal. Samuel Alarcon (Madrid, Spain/Colegio el Valle II) had a pair of saves in goal as he recorded his third shutout of the season.

Gannon's 10-0-1 start is the best since the 1993 team started the season with 14 straight wins.

After playing back-to-back home matches, the Golden Knights hit the highway for their next three matches. The stretch gets underway on Wednesday, October 11 at Slippery Rock. The match starts at 4:00 p.m.
