Scarpino Named PSAC West Special Teams Player of the Week

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- Gannon University's Eric Scarpino (Waterford, Pa./Fort LeBoeuf) has been named the PSAC West Special Teams Athlete of the Week for his play in Saturday's 23-6 win at Seton Hill. The conference announced its weekly honorees this afternoon.

The Fort LeBoeuf High School product matched his career high with three field goals made in three attempts. A left-footed placekicker, he gave Gannon a 10-0 lead with a 37-yard field goal early in the second quarter, then made a 41-yarder late in the half for a 13-0 lead. That is his longest field goal this season. He made it 16-0 with a 30-yard kick late in the third quarter.

Scarpino also made both of his extra point attempts and has yet to miss a kick this year, going 8-for-8 on field goals and 13-of-13 on PATs. His eight field goals made this season are tied for eighth in a season and the three made in the game are one shy of the school record.

Scarpino now ranks fourth in career field goals made (25) and sixth in career field goals attempted (31). In addition, he is third in career PATs made (105) and career PATs attempted (112).    His 180 points are ninth in the career records.

Gannon returns to action on Saturday, October 7 hosting local rival Edinboro. Kickoff at McConnell Family Stadium is set for 12 noon.
