LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Gannon women's wrestling team placed eighth at the NWCA National Duals after a pair of narrow losses on Saturday at the Kentucky Expo Center.

The Golden Knights had opened the tournament by going 2-1 on Friday. They met No. 5-ranked Augsburg in the consolation semifinals Saturday morning and led 17-15 before Augsburg won the final three matches for a 27-18 victory. Gannon moved into the seventh-place match, where it lost to Sacred Heart 24-23.

Freshman 143-pounder Lili Ujfalvi (Kecskemet-heteny, Hungary/Bolyai Janos Secondary School) was a standout for Gannon on Saturday. She had pins in both matches for a pair of five-point wins.

Ujfalvi's pin of Ellisa Jimenez gave Gannon a 17-15 advantage against Augsburg. However, Augsburg closed the dual with a technical fall, pin, and decision to take the nine-point win.

The Golden Knights' Julianne Moccia (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) completed a 5-0 weekend by converting a pin against Sacred Heart and getting a forfeit against Augsburg.

Juliana Cubias (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Aliso Niguel) (123) and Lana Perez (Honolulu, Hawaii/Moanalua) (136) had pins, along with Moccia and Ujfalvi, as Gannon took a 21-13 lead, but Sacred Heart won the next three matches to claim the one-point victory.

Gannon's Kendall McGarity (New Braunfels, Texas/Smithson Valley) and Sacred Heart's Jacklyn Smith tied 3-3 in the final match, but Smith took the win on a tiebreaker.
