Grove Joins Football Program as Assistant Coach

ERIE, Pa. -- Gannon head football coach Erik Raeburn has announced the addition of Zane Grove to the coaching staff. Grove will coach the cornerbacks.

"We are looking forward to Zane joining our program and the impact he will make with our corners," related Raeburn.

Grove joins the Golden Knight staff after serving as an assistant coach at Case Western Reserve since 2019. He worked primarily with the linebackers this year after previously served as the team's assistant coach for cornerbacks his first two seasons.

The Spartans finished with a 6-4 record in 2021. In 2019, CWRU was 9-2 and earned a berth in the NCAA Division III Playoffs. The Spartans would drop a 24-21 decision at Union in the first round. They won their first nine games in the regular season before suffering a 24-21 loss to Carnegie Mellon in the regular season finale. They won the Presidents' Athletic Conference championship in 2019.

Grove spent 2018 as an assistant coach at the University of Minnesota – Morris (3-7).  He coached the Cougars' cornerbacks and safeties and co-coordinated the punt return team.

A native of South Charleston, Ohio, Grove served as a student-assistant football coach and the Director of Football Operations Intern at his alma mater, Wittenberg University, in 2017. The Tigers finished with a 10-1 record that season, losing to Frostburg State in the Division III Playoffs.  Prior to that he was a four-year member of the Wittenberg football team, which went a combined 37-8 and claimed three North Coach Athletic Conference Championships and made three appearances in the NCAA Division II Playoffs.  He played safety and cornerback for Wittenberg, while also seeing time on special teams over his career.

Grove earned his bachelor's degree in Business Management, minoring in Sports Management, from Wittenberg in December 2017.
