Gannon Makes Short Trip to Edinboro to Face Local Rival

ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon women's lacrosse team will look to snap a two-game losing streak on Saturday, March 19 when the Golden Knights play at Edinboro. The match gets underway at 1:00 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium.

The Golden Knights are 2-3 after opening PSAC action with a 15-8 loss to Lock Haven on Wednesday at McConnell Family Stadium. Edinboro owns a 1-3 record following an 8-6 loss to Lake Erie on Wednesday. The Fighting Scots will be playing their first conference match. Edinboro was picked to finish sixth in eth PSAC West and Gannon seventh.

Gannon head coach Jenny Pawlowski is in her third season in charge of the Golden Knight program. Her resume also includes a stop as head coach at Edinboro in 2018. She leads a young team that continues to grow, showcasing 2021 PSAC West Freshman of the Year McKenna Woodworth (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads). She leads the team with 17 goals, three assists and 20 points. Woodworth earned second team All-PSAC West honors a year ago after leading Gannon in goals (40), assists (60), and points (46). She ranked sixth in the PSAC in goals.

Caroline Stevens (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) joined Woodworth with a team-leading three goals on Wednesday vs. Lock Haven. A freshman, Stevens has 10 goals and two assists for 12 points. Rachel Tufts (Erie, Pa./McDowell) adds eight goals. She led the PSAC in goals in 2020 with 22 and points with 27.
Pawlowski has employed both Cheyenne Jess (Stratford, N.J./Sterling) and Kendra Delissio (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) in goal. Jess has played 187 minutes in goal and has a 15.72 GAA. Delissio got the start vs. Lock Haven. She has played 114 minutes and has a 9.99 GAA. 

Gannon opened the season with a 13-10 loss at Shepherd before running off two wins in North Carolina. They recorded an 11-8 win at Lenoir-Rhyne, holding the Bears scoreless in the second half, then won a 13-12 game in overtime at Catawba. They opened at home against Bloomsburg, dropping a 20-9 decision to the Huskies.
