Women's Lacrosse Debuts at Home vs. Bloomsburg Ahead of Impending Storm

– Fresh off a successful three-game southern swing, the Gannon women's lacrosse team returns to action on Friday, March 11. The Golden Knights play their home opener at McConnell Family Stadium hosting Bloomsburg. It is the first of back-to-back home game, with Gannon beginning PSAC play on Wednesday, March 16 vs. Lock Haven. The match was moved up two hours from the original start time, with the two teams now taking to the field at 2 p.m. A winter storm is predicted to hit northwest Pennsylvania later in the day.

Gannon has already bettered last year's win total when the Golden Knights finished at 1-11, as they are 2-1. Head coach Jennifer Pawlowski's team opened with a 13-10 loss at Shepherd before running off two wins in North Carolina. They recorded an 11-8 win at Lenoir-Rhyne, holding the Bears scoreless in the second half, then won a 13-12 game in overtime at Catawba on Saturday.

Bloomsburg also comes in with a 2-1 record after a dominating 23-4 win over Chestnut Hill on Monday. The Huskies opened the year with a 16-14 win over Georgian Court before dropping a 17-16 decision at Indiana(Pa.). They were picked to finish third in the PSAC East in the coaches preseason poll. Gannon was picked seventh in the Western Division.

McKenna Woodworth (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) scored her fourth goal with 27 seconds left in regulation at Catawba to send the match into overtime. Rachel Tufts (Erie, Pa./McDowell) then found the back of the net with 1:56 remaining in overtime for the winning goal.

Woodworth was the PSAC West Freshman of the Year and earned second team All-PSAC West honors a year ago after leading Gannon in goals (40), assists (60), and points (46). She ranked sixth in the PSAC in goals. She is off to a fast start this year with 10 goals and three assists for 13 points. Tufts has now scored six goals.

Pawlowski has employed both Kendra Delissio (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) and Cheyenne Jess (Stratford, N.J./Sterling) in goal recently. Jess has played 127 minutes in goal and has a 113.70 GAA. Delissio has played 54 minutes and has a 4.44 GAA.

Bloomsburg has had 14 different players score goals, with Abby Kalish and Kate Roberts scoring seven goals apiece. Lauren Foley has been in goal for 165 of a possible 180 minutes. She has a 12.00 GAA.
