Knights Turn In High-Scoring Performance at Red Hot Cheer and Dance Competition

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Gannon University Competitive Cheer and Dance Team opened the 2022 season by competing at the Red Hot Cheer and Dance Competition on Sunday morning at Slippery Rock University.
 
The Gannon All-Girl team finished second following a high-scoring performance on Sunday – finishing just behind Penn State Behrend in the final event standings. Gannon All-Girl scoring a 9.2 (out of 10) in the basket toss, a 9.3 in standing tumbling, a 9.4 in running tumbling and a 9.8 in jumps.
 
Gannon Coed competed uncontested in its event but was recognized following its performance for having the highest jump score in the "school teams" division.
 
Gannon Dance also competed in two uncontested exhibitions on Sunday morning and was recognized by the judges in several different categories. The Knights received the "best choreography" award for the entire competition, and received high scores in staging, synchronization, and execution.
 
Gannon will now have two weeks to prepare for its next competition, which is set for Sunday, March 6 at the Upstate College Championship in Elmira, N.Y.
