Men's Harriers to Compete in Bill Lennox Invitational on Saturday

ERIE, Pa. – The regular season is winding down with just one race remaining before the PSAC Championships on Saturday, November 5. The Gannon men's cross country team will look to prep for that race on Saturday, October 22 competing in the Bill Lennox Invitational.

Slippery Rock will host the race at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds in New Castle, Pa. The race has normally featured a strong field. The men's harriers will run an 8K at 11:30 p.m. following completion of the women's race. That gets underway at 10:45 a.m. The following teams will be competing on Saturday: California (Pa.), Clarion, Concord, Gannon, Indiana (Pa.), Kent State – Trumbull, Lake Erie, Slippery Rock, West Liberty, West Virginia Wesleyan, and Youngstown State

Head coach Rob Ahren's team comes off a narrow win against Mercyhurst in the Race in the Park last Saturday. Gannon finished with 27 points to 28 for the Lakers as the Golden Knights had four of the top seven runners across the finish line.

Caleb Mandel (Harborcreek, Pa./Harbor Creek) was named the PSAC Athlete of the Week for the second straight week after capturing first. The senior covered the 8K course in 26:23.6 for his second win of the season. Mandel has been Gannon's top finisher in all five races this season.

With Ely Personius (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst Central) not competing, freshmen Luke Malena (Medina, Ohio/Cloverleaf) stepped up and came in third with a time of 27:05.9. Gavyn Hansotte (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) was sixth (27:47.2) and Alex Chelton (Oil City, Pa./Cathedral Prep) seventh (27:57.5).
